Bambie Saveland is our accounting assistant and joined the Travois team in January. Bambie monitors financial transactions including expenditures, receipts, accounts payable and receivables. She also helps with clerical tasks.
1. What education and/or certifications do you have?
I have associate degrees from Kansas City Community College and Heritage College.
2. What attracted you to Travois?
My sister Kellie, controller for Travois, had so many good things to say about the company and its mission to help American Indian tribes.
3. How do your past experiences help you in your current position?
Before I went to Heritage College to become a massage therapist, I did some simple bookkeeping for my uncle’s glass company.
4. What places have you enjoyed visiting and why?
I traveled to China in 2012 while my husband was there for work and celebrated my 30th birthday there. It was a great experience, and it is one birthday I will never forget.
5. What is one thing you would like people to know about you?
I am known for my cupcakes — whether it’s a box mix or from scratch. I love to bake!

A teacher
7. Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
Poker — Texas Hold ’em
8. Many Travois staff members are animal lovers. Do you have a pet?
I have a chihuahua named Tiara Taco a.k.a. “T.T.” and an orange tabby cat named Milo.
9. What is your favorite meal?
Anything with noodles or rice!

11. If you were stranded on a deserted island and could take one item with you, what would it be?
A solar-powered cellphone with a signal and an Internet connection
12. What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I had dance moves like back-up dancers at concerts.
13. What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I enjoy catching up on television shows I DVR , hanging out with friends and family and playing games, specifically Texas Hold ’em at local tournaments.
14. What is your favorite thing to do in Kansas City?
I enjoy attending any of the sporting events that KC has to offer. I also enjoy a good meal at the many restaurants in KC.
15. What do you like about Kansas City? What do you dislike?
I like that there are so many sporting events you can go to and the variety of restaurants to choose from. I dislike the long winters and the constant road construction that never seems to end.
16. What kind of music do you like? Or what is your favorite band?
I like almost all music as long as it’s not heavy metal or rap. There are so many good artists to choose from: Mumford and Sons, Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood — I can’t pick one!
17. What is your favorite TV show of all time?
Picking a favorite TV show of all time is hard —I’ll go with “Scandal.” My favorite movie of all time is “Pretty Woman.”
