White Mountain Apache Housing Authority # 6

Whiteriver, Ft. Apache, Arizona 85941

The White Mountain Apache Housing Authority (WMAHA) completed this 46-unit, new construction and acquisition/rehabilitation project in 2015.

The project was developed within the boundaries of the White Mountain Apache Reservation: 23 of the tribe’s existing housing units were rehabilitated in Whiteriver, AZ, and 23 new units were built in Fort Apache, AZ.

Half of the project’s 46 units are three-bedroom units and the remaining homes are two-bedroom units.

All units include amenities such as low-flow water fixtures, energy-saving appliances and attached carports.

In addition to investor equity through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, WMAHA also received a $460,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP), which significantly reduced the tribe’s financial contribution to the project.

Travois Design & Construction Services provided architectural design services and a capital needs assessment for the project.

RBC Capital Markets is the investor for this project.
