Since the day the CDFI Fund announced our $70 million allocation, our phone has been ringing a lot. One of the most common questions is, “how do I submit my project for NMTC financing?”
The good news is that you do not need to apply directly to the CDFI Fund.

Travois’ 12th annual conference is coming up in September. This is not only my first conference to attend but also my first to help coordinate. We’ve chosen the beautiful Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Ariz., as our host hotel and conference center.

When you spend a lot of time on the road for business, things start to run together. It is often difficult to remember all of the places you have been in a month. It was nice to have this reminder of our assistance to Little Big Horn College in the Tribal College Journal’s spring issue.

It is hard to pick the highlight of my trip to the Red Lake Nation in northern Minnesota. Perhaps it was the experience of meeting with a housing authority team that has developed hundreds of new housing units over the past decade that serve low income families.

Travois New Markets holds itself accountable to the Native communities we serve. To help accomplish this goal, we work with an outstanding advisory board. We chose our advisory board members because of their stellar track records and deep roots in Indian Country.

I am just returning from a very exciting, very productive and very tiring week in Las Vegas at the 2012 Reservation Economic Summit (RES). RES is Indian Country’s largest business development gathering and this year’s theme was Indigenous Economic Globalization Now.

I just spent a couple of days with Phil Glynn at RES (Reservation Economic Summit) in Las Vegas.
It is hosted by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED).

Travois New Markets now has another $70 million in New Markets Tax Credit allocation. That means we can provide financing for more great projects in Indian Country.

Travois belongs to two New Markets Tax Credit-focused groups: the NMTC Coalition and the NMTC Working Group. Both organizations recently responded to the IRS’ request for public comments on the effectiveness of the NMTC program.
