The Wichita Tribe Industrial Development Commission (WTIDC) works to provide economic prosperity and workforce opportunities for the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and its citizenship. It retains and expands businesses and supports entrepreneurial development.
WTIDC wanted to contribute to downtown Anadarko’s revitalization. It purchased a historic building and sought to renovate it.
WTIDC brought on the Travois Design team because it learned of Wichita Housing Authority’s previous productive work with Travois. Our architectural team prepared a capital needs assessment, rehabilitation scope of work, programming and design development.
The renovation uncovered, restored and preserved the original floors, brick and beautiful windows. The stunning office space combines historic charm and modern efficiencies and is both functional and elegant. WTIDC re-opened the building in 2019 and shares the space with the tribe’s R.I.S.E. program and Native Connections.
Community members can visit to use a laptop, work on their resumes and apply for jobs. WTIDC hopes to add more staff in the future, and the building will support that growth.
