Grant opportunity

To promote goodwill between Turkey and tribal nations in the United States, Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) will present one grant up to $1 million to an Indian Country infrastructure development project.

TIKA is seeking project proposals for supporting infrastructure development needs in Indian Country through Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 from American Indian tribes, Alaska Native tribes, Alaska Native villages, American Indian nonprofit organizations, tribal enterprises and American Indian community-based organizations.

Potential projects should:

  • Address a documented infrastructure development need within a community;
  • Serve as many members of a community as possible;
  • Be ready for implementation.

TIKA was created in 1992 to provide development assistance to countries to improve cooperation through projects and programs in economic, commercial, technical, social, cultural and educational arenas. TIKA wishes to make this grant opportunity available “as a token of Turkey’s commitment to fostering deeper ties between Turkey and Indian Country.”
