My quick, cold visit to Milwaukee

My recent stay at the Menominee Casino Resort in Keshena, Wis., left me refreshed after a big day of discussing past projects and future opportunities.

After a cold, clear drive down to Milwaukee, I had a few hours’ worth of meetings with potential partners before heading to the airport.

Milwaukee has a vibrant downtown. As you can see from the photo, the lobby of the Iron Horse Hotel was a great place to grab a cup of coffee and respond to a few emails. The Iron Horse Hotel is a historic boutique property that would be great for any business traveler passing through the city.

Next, I headed across town for a meeting near Cathedral square and took this photo as an example of the beautiful downtown architecture. From there, it was a quick drive out to the airport where I found a crowd listening to a live piano player and two guys playing pingpong. I was ready to get home to KC but enjoyed my quick visit in a great town.

Interesting fact: According to the city of Milwaukee’s website, the name Milwaukee originated from a Potawatomi word that was pronounced “Mahn-ah-wauk.” It meant “council grounds.”
