Two thumbs up: Matika Wilbur gives keynote talk at our annual conference

This year we were honored to have Matika Wilbur, photographer, writer, educator, and leading force of Project 562 as our keynote speaker. Project 562 is a national documentary project dedicated to capturing contemporary Native America.

She told heartfelt stories from the road, presented beautiful photos, and talked about issues communities face across the country.

Each of Matika’s photos had a face and a story. And each person’s story was unique and important. It was very touching to hear how she has connected with so many people from so many different tribes.

During her 45-minute talk, many people laughed and some people cried, but everyone had amazing reviews. Here are a few from our conference surveys:

“Great!”
“Excellent!”
“Very beautiful!”
“Matika was awesome!”
“She made me very proud.”
“I was beyond amazed with Matika.”
“What she is doing is amazing!”
“I really enjoyed it!”
“Inspirational!”
“Awesome woman!”
“Loved her enthusiasm!”

If you saw her presentation, what did you think?
