Ukelele virtuoso gives outstanding performance

Travois was honored to be a sponsor for the phenomenal ukelele virtuoso and composer Jake Shimabukuro on November 15th at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

The Hawaiian musician first won acclaim for a YouTube video of his cover performance of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” He has just released his second album “Grand Ukelele,” which was produced by Alan Parsons, best known for his work on Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.”

His first album, 2011’s “Peace, Love, Ukulele,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard World Charts. Shimabukuro’s performance in Helzberg Hall featured a cool laser light show and included several of his own compositions, among them “Akaka Falls,” a beautiful and traditional Hawaiian song.
