The Elk Valley Tribal Fuel Mart in Crescent City, California, received $1.7 million in equity through the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) program, reducing the project’s debt.
The Tribally-owned enterprise created 10 full-time jobs with salaries above the area’s living wage, and four more were expected in the year after it opened.

The fuel mart worked with Harbor Wholesale and Partnership For A Healthier America to provide healthy food for customers who otherwise must drive long distances for groceries.
Native-owned First American Petroleum provided fuel and consulting services, expanding opportunities for another Indigenous business.
Travois New Markets, our Community Development Entity (CDE), provided tax credits to support the project.
U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance provided the equity investment.
