Paskenta Community Complex
The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians built a government and community services campus in Corning, California, with our support.
Our economic development team secured New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing to provide crucial gap funding, and our architects designed culturally relevant designs for the development.
The project included the renovation and expansion of a health clinic and the construction of new Tribal administration and community center buildings.

Architecture reflecting culture
Our architects collaborated with the Tribal council to incorporate elements reflecting the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians’ history and values.
The administrative building is a modern interpretation of the round house. The building features a central atrium and a living wall with a built-in irrigation system for plants extending through an oculus skylight.
The exterior includes balconies, patios, and a rooftop terrace.

Community-centered design
The community center includes a large multipurpose space that can accommodate up to 730 people, a commercial kitchen, lounge business center, private meeting rooms, a community room and outdoor space.
In a symbolic gesture, angled columns extend from the community center to invite in the community.
