About the New Markets Tax Credit
The New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) is a federal program designed to attract private investment into community development projects.
Since 2000, it has helped direct billions of dollars into businesses, health care, education, and other essential projects.
Travois New Markets is a Community Development Entity (CDE) that receives NMTC allocations from the U.S. Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund.
We work with investors and other Native-focused CDEs to ensure low-cost, flexible debt or equity reaches Indigenous communities.
An advisory board of Indigenous leaders guides our decisions, ensuring accountability to the communities we serve.
