Yaqui Square Complex
The Yaqui Square Complex is a master-planned affordable housing community developed by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. It includes single-family homes, townhouses, and two apartment complexes, one designated for elder Tribal members.
We helped secure nearly $70 million through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program and various grants to support this phased project. Our architects created a custom desert modern motif that reimagines affordable housing design.
Each type of home offers different customized amenities and features to meet residents’ diverse needs.

Building a community
This 40-acre, master-planned affordable housing community developed by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe is a significant achievement. It demonstrates how Tribes can utilize LIHTC to construct beautiful homes for their Tribal members on Tribal land.
The complex now includes 172 single-family homes, townhouses, and two apartment complexes, with one designated for elder Tribal members.

Two Yaqui Square
Two Yaqui Square is a four-story apartment building designed to support aging in place. The building incorporates high-quality materials and amenities tailored for seniors, keeping them involved in the community and maintaining strong cultural relationships.
This is a tremendous blessing to our community for our elders to live in the same place because it allows the teachings to continue to other generations. It allows our cultural traditions to remain strong. The biggest thing is that the elders love is that it’s in the reservation.”
