For its sixth LIHTC allocation from the Arizona Department of Housing, received in 2012, the San Carlos Housing Authority will rehabilitate 25 homes within its existing Tufastone subdivision and construct 16 homes in the new Tulapai Flats subdivision in San Carlos, AZ. A community building with a playground and half-court basketball court will also be constructed within Tulapai Flats. The units are targeted toward families whose incomes are at or below 40, 50, and 60 percent Area Median Income. To further the housing authority’s dedication to resource conservation, the units will be equipped with green features, such as dual flush toilets, low-flow water fixtures, passive solar designs, and energy efficient appliances. In addition, the project includes a 3-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system, which allows each home to generate its own electricity.
Travois Design & Construction Services provided a capital needs assessment and design and construction monitoring services.
