Travois’ 12th annual conference is coming up in September. This is not only my first conference to attend but also my first to help coordinate. We’ve chosen the beautiful Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Ariz., as our host hotel and conference center. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe, a Travois client, owns and operates this amazing casino, resort and spa.
Our yearly conference is a great opportunity to learn about the benefits of using Low Income Housing Tax Credits and New Markets Tax Credits to develop housing and businesses in Indian Country. I’ve been told attendees enjoy hearing from tribal staff members who have developed successful projects, meeting new faces and reconnecting with old friends.
In helping plan this year’s conference, I have been asking a lot of questions. One of which is, what do we do when we are not in a training? I was so surprised to hear all of the fun past activities and am most excited about the annual karaoke night. This year’s karaoke night is already scheduled for Tuesday evening of the conference: Sept. 11.
