We have been overwhelmed to see and hear the news updates about the devastation caused this week by Hurricane Sandy. Our thoughts will remain with victims of this tragedy as the recovery continues.
As reported in this article by Indian Country Today Media Network, American Indian tribes on our Eastern shoreline are assessing varying damage and trying to recover from flooding, power outages, downed utility lines and mobile towers, and damage to tribal members’ homes.
All across the disaster zone, the American Red Cross is helping to provide shelter, food and health and emotional health services to those in need.
