The 15th Annual Travois Indian Country Affordable Housing & Economic Development Conference will be held on Sept. 21-23 at Le Méridien New Orleans. This educational conference provides detailed instruction on how American Indian tribes and Native organizations can attract private investment funds for housing and economic development. Employees of tribally designated housing entities, tribes, Alaska Native groups, Native Hawaiian organizations and Native-owned businesses are invited to attend free of charge.
Travois staff members, experienced tribal developers and other industry professionals will give tips and discuss best practices for affordable housing development, the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program, economic development, the New Markets Tax Credit program, asset management/compliance, architectural design and construction monitoring. As part of Travois’ 20th anniversary in business, key industry professionals and successful projects will be honored at an awards luncheon. Nominations will be sought, beginning later this summer.
The conference is designed for tribal staff members and leaders who work with housing and economic development, including executive directors, occupancy and resident services staff, board members, tribal chairmen and women, tribal council members, economic development staff, tribal college presidents and administrators, and Native business owners.
Special to this year’s conference is a joint NAHASDA-Tax Credit Compliance Professional (NTCCP) Certification Training that will be offered through the National American Indian Housing Council (NAIHC) at the same venue. The Travois conference can also help meet continuing education credit for NTCCP Certification.
