What a fun year 2015 has been! This year we celebrated our 20th anniversary as a company, many clients’ tax credit awards, project ground breakings and grand openings, a successful conference, and so much more! We wrote about many of these celebratory moments on our company blog too.
If you missed them, here the top five from the year:
5. In 20 years in business, Travois has hosted 15 conferences to information about opportunities for creating new homes and businesses in Native communities. Through the years, we’ve made countless memories — hearing success stories from clients, meeting new people from all around the country and sharing in unique experiences. Read about some of our favorite memories: My top 5 favorite memories from Travois conferences.
4. In this video, Elliott Abbey, a member of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, talks about his craft and business, Pine Needle Works by Elliott Rain Abbey. Watch here: Chatting with artist and business owner Elliott Abbey.
3. The Warm Springs Housing Authority hosted a grand opening to celebrate its first Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) project located on the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation. The Greeley Heights project is the first tribal Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) project in Oregon in more than 20 years. See photos of the event and new homes here: Warm Springs Housing Authority celebrates with a grand opening.
2. Students attending Little Priest Tribal College (LPTC) will have more options for housing with a new 27-unit apartment building to accommodate families funded by LIHTCs. The project, LPTC Residential Complex, is part of a larger community development effort known as Ho-Chunk Village. Read more details on the project here: Tribal college students will have new housing options at Little Priest Tribal College.
1. Travois donates billboard space on our property to local nonprofits, and the Haskell Foundation teamed up with us in 2015. We were especially excited that the Haskell Foundation could use the advertising space because Haskell is the tribal college that is located nearest to us! Lawrence, KS, is a short 45-minute drive from Kansas City. See photos of the billboards here: Onward Haskell: Haskell Foundation preserving an academic legacy.
