The beautifulĀ Tulalip Resort Casino, a AAA Four Diamond resort owned and operated by the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, was the site of theĀ 11th Annual Travois Indian Country Tax Credit Conference.
Attendees from nearly 40 tribal organizations registered for the conference and heard stories of successful projects: new and rehabilitated homes for tribal members and economic development projects that have provided desperately needed jobs and services in Indian Country. The Low Income Housing Tax Credit program, New Markets Tax Credit program, asset management/compliance, green building, renewable energy options, architectural design and inspections were also explained in detail.
Conference attendees enjoyed a special menu, inspired by traditional Northwest Native cuisine, designed by the Tulalip Resort chefs.
In addition to conference sessions, attendees were invited to visit the Hibulb Cultural Center and Natural History Preserve and a Tulalip bio-gas refinery, located in Monroe, Wash. Besides the Tulalip Casino, other entertainment options included a welcome reception, karaoke night and screening of the movie “Smoke Signals.”
