UPCS Training held Nov. 14 and 15 in Kansas City (2012)

Travois Asset Management is pleased to announce it is sponsoring a Uniform Physical Conditions Standards (UPCS) Protocol Training Wednesday, Nov. 14 and Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the Four Points Sheraton in Kansas City, Mo.

“Many of our clients have requested training for staff relating to the on-site physical inspection requirements related to Low Income Housing Tax Credit projects, NAHASDA and other HUD-related housing programs,” said David Bland, chairman of Travois. “It is very important that housing staff members know these guidelines and how they are utilized, so that they can successfully pass state housing on-site physical compliance inspections.”

The two-day training will be led by The Inspection Group, a company that provides trainings and inspection for all affordable housing entities around the country. It is highly recommended for those employed in the following housing fields: executive staff, occupancy specialists, resident services, maintenance and any other staff involved in the day-today management of rental housing projects, especially those utilizing the LIHTC program.

The class will cover the use and implementation of UPCS inspection protocols. Participants will learn property profile and building information entry, defect determination, defect severity classifications, health and safety categories and life-threatening hazards. Information will be provided concerning how the use of data can generate reports such as work orders, maintenance trends, REAC score improvement plans and capital planning. Realistic and economic suggestions and recommendations will help participants meet UPCS requirements. The class will conclude with a self-scored certification test and summary review.

The fee, which covers all materials, lunch and break refreshments each day, is $275 per person. Discounts are available for organizations that send four or more staff members. Please contact Kari Hutchison at 816-994-8970 or kari@travois.com for more information.
