The start of the school year is a hectic, but exciting, time of the year for many people. A child you know (or your son or daughter) may soon be starting kindergarten, or at the other end of the spectrum, starting college as a freshman.
Since 1989, the American Indian College Fund has provided more than 3,500 scholarships to help American Indian students attend tribal colleges.
Travois supports the American Indian College Fund with donations to its scholarship fund, and we are inspired by the stories we hear of tribal college students who succeed in spite of the tough obstacles they face.
For example, Kenora, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, attended college 500 miles away from her home (though not too far from our Kansas City office) at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kan. — and then she went on to earn her MBA from the University of Kansas.
Check out her story on the American Indian College Fund’s website and consider supporting the American Indian College Fund with a donation.
We applaud all students and wish them luck this school year!
