At a luncheon last week, the Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC) awarded six individuals with Friend of Housing Awards for positively impacting affordable housing across the state.
John Williamson, executive director of the Lower Elwha Housing Authority (LEHA), was one of the six individuals honored, and Travois is extremely privileged to count LEHA and John as a client!
In the nomination sent to WSHFC, Travois explained John’s accomplishments at LEHA:
- He has served as the director of the Lower Elwha Housing Authority since 1992, except for a short 14-month break starting in 2003 when he served another housing authority.
- He has used his expertise in tribal housing to develop two Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects. The first project was completed in 2010 and provides 20 households with a place to call home.
- LEHA’s second LIHTC project is currently under construction and is adding 25 additional homes and a playground to the same neighborhood as the first project.
- These two projects generated more than $6.7 million in private investor equity.
- John has taken leadership roles in regional and national housing organizations, including with the Northwest Indian Housing Association and the National American Indian Housing Council, among others.
Congratulations, John! To read more about the awards, visit the WSHFC website.
