Pascua Yaqui Homes #7 received a 2020 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) award from the Arizona Department of Housing. This development is the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s seventh LIHTC project and will construct 50 new single-family homes.
With a combination of two, three, and four bedroom homes, the development will serve all family sizes on the Pascua Yaqui Reservation in Tucson, Arizona.
The Pascua Yaqui Tribe tasked our Travois Design team with “breaking the mold” of past affordable housing design and challenged us to consider a new modern aesthetic. Units include private exterior courtyards, enclosed garages, mudrooms and open living spaces. Energy efficient features and quality materials will make the homes affordable and low maintenance for years to come.
The Pascua Yaqui Wellness Center is located in walking distance from the new development. Residents will have access to the center’s fitness room, exercise equipment, a basketball/multi-use gymnasium and a junior Olympic-sized swimming pool. The center also offers fitness classes and an after-school program for kids ages 7-15. Outside of the center are playground areas, open-lawn park areas, walking trails, baseball diamonds and outdoor swimming pools.
The Pascua Yaqui Tribe has developed over 1,380 units of affordable housing for tribal members, including 223 LIHTC units in six projects.
Travois Design is the project architect.
Raymond James Tax Credit Funds is the development investor.
