Multimedia artist Wendy Red Star (Crow) recently visited Kansas City to celebrate the opening of her exhibition “Parading Culture (Tokens, Gold & Glory)” at local gallery Haw Contemporary. It can be seen through Feb. 27.
We are big fans of her work and were honored to spend an evening with her at our office. Wendy, along with Bill Haw Jr. (Haw Contemporary) and Bruce Hartman (The Nerman Museum), joined a group of Travoisians for some great conversation and a nice dinner.
Wendy Red Star grew up on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana and is the niece of painter Kevin Red Star. (We are big fans of his too! Check out some of our favorite artwork in the office).
She is now based in Portland. Her work has been shown all over the world, and we are so excited to say a few of her artworks will soon hang in our office too!
It was wonderful meeting you, Wendy! We hope to see you in Kansas City again.
More information on Wendy Red Star’s exhibition can be found on Haw Contemporary’s website. Visit Wendy’s website at www.wendyredstar.com.
Thank you for an amazing and wonderful welcoming and dinner. It was truly special.
Thank you for spending time with us! It was a pleasure meeting you, and we’re excited to have two pieces of your work in our office to enjoy everyday.
