We asked Jason Betts, environmental professional for Travois Environmental Services, to fill out this short questionnaire so our staff, clients and project partners can get to know him better.
In his position, he performs Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for housing and economic development projects, conducts energy audits for housing projects and performs or facilitates additional environmental testing for health hazards and contaminants.

Education: B.S. in geology/geophysics and an MBA in finance
What attracted you to Travois? The company’s mission to its clients
How will your past experiences help you in your current position? I have a relatively strong background in environmental, engineering and business, which allows me to work through new projects for our clients.
What is one thing you would like Travois staff and clients to know about you? I am getting married on October 19 to my fiancée, Katie! (See their engagement photo below)
What did you want to be as a kid? A veterinarian or a job working for National Geographic
What is your favorite meal? Anything grilled, along with the company of friends and family
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could take one item with you, what would it be? A satellite phone or a ship that is seaworthy
What talent do you wish you had? I wish I was a better public speaker.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working? I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking with my dogs, playing video games, fishing, shooting trap, and hanging out with friends and family.
What is your favorite thing to do in Kansas City? I enjoy spending time outside the most, but there are a lot of science, history, and art venues in Kansas City.
