As you may have read on our blog before, Travois donates billboard space on our property to local nonprofits, and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts became the fifth nonprofit to team up with us.
The Kauffman Center recently installed two beautiful and eye-catching signs to promote its National Geographic Live series, which brings in award-winning photographers, filmmakers and explorers to share their stories and experiences.
“The National Geographic Live series features entertaining and visually spectacular presentations by some of the world’s leading explorers. We are grateful to Travois for inviting the Kauffman Center to showcase our diverse programming by utilizing their billboard space,” said Jane Chu, president & CEO of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
We were especially excited that the Kauffman Center could use the advertising space because we’re neighbors! It’s located just a few blocks north of our offices.
Here are a few more facts about the Kauffman Center:
- The Kauffman Center serves as the performance home for three of the region’s leading performing arts organizations — Kansas City Ballet, Kansas City Symphony and Lyric Opera of Kansas City.
- It was designed by architect Moshe Safdie, opened in downtown Kansas City, MO, on Sept. 16, 2011 and will soon celebrate its second anniversary.
- Within its 285,000 square feet, two stand-alone performance halls are housed within a dramatic overarching shell featuring a glass roof and glass walls. (See the striking photos by Tim Hursley below! They were used with permission from the Kauffman Center.)
We are so happy to be able to work with one of Kansas City’s brightest arts organizations! If you don’t live in Kansas City, take this neat virtual tour to get a glimpse of this gem.
