Ariana Miller recently joined the Travois family of companies as project manager for Travois New Markets. As project manager, she works on New Markets Tax Credit projects and helps clients through the closing process to receive private investor funds for economic development projects. We asked her to answer a few questions, so we can all get to know her better.
Read on to see why Ariana fits in so well at Travois. (One nice coincidence: she previously worked for one of our tribal clients!)
Education: I received a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy from Eastern University (Philadelphia) and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
What attracted you to Travois? Initially, Travois’ work in economic development and focus on American Indian communities attracted me. After visiting, I was also really drawn to the atmosphere and how family-oriented the company is.
How will your past experiences help you in your current position? Before joining Travois, I worked in community development and also interned for a tax credit investor. These experiences equipped me with the general knowledge and landscape of economic development and the tax credit industry. Another beneficial experience is my prior position as a law clerk for Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota. This experience helps me better understand the perspective of the communities we work with and the unique challenges they face.
What is one thing you would like Travois staff and clients to know about you? I love to sing but am terrified of karaoke.

What is your favorite thing about Kansas City? Everyone has been welcoming and friendly. The city is really accessible.
