(Eden Rensing is the communications coordinator for Travois.)
The kids have spoken: “Travois is a cool place to work!” This is the third year Travois has participated in the national Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day program. On April 25, our employees were busy engaging our visitors in a day of educational fun. Ranging in ages of 8-14 years old, the kids teamed up in two groups to experience the full Travois mission.
Each department planned an activity to teach the kids about their responsibilities at Travois. They were given an overview about the services we provide, and then took on the role of employees themselves. Both groups were tasked with mock projects. Each team developed an application for credits, conducted environmental assessments, and designed communities going through the steps their parents would take. They also competed in a hula-hoop contest, a scavenger hunt and ate donuts for breakfast and had pizza for lunch. Not too bad for a day’s work!
To make a busy day even busier, I tasked the kids to help me with the communication department’s social media. They took photos throughout the process, and documented their favorite parts of the day to share with our followers.
