Congratulations to the White Earth Reservation Housing Authority (WERHA) on its 2013 allocation of Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) from Minnesota Housing in the amount of $583,653. In an extremely competitive field, WERHA was one of 20 awardees receiving credits out of a pool of more than 50 applicants.
With the award of credits, WERHA will be able to rehabilitate 35 units on the reservation. All of the units rehabbed will target households at or below 60 percent of area median income (AMI) with 11 of the 35 units rent restricted at levels affordable to households at the 30 percent of AMI level.
This will be the housing authority’s fifth tax credit project. WERHA’s most recent project — a 30-unit new construction project located on the reservation in White Earth, Naytahwaush and Bagley, Minn. — recently completed construction in January of 2012. Travois would like to congratulate Jen McDougall, executive director of WERHA, and her staff for a job well done!
