Travois is proud to be a board member of the New Markets Tax Credit Coalition. Congratulations to our fellow board members — and a big shout out to our partners Rapoza & Associates — on the completion of our most recent progress report. So many great deals are featured in the report — including a fascinating project undertaken by the Makah Tribe. The report was accompanied by a video this year, which features one of Travois’ client’s projects: Educare Winnebago.
The report is a crucial tool we use to help tell Indian Country’s story on Capitol Hill. The NMTC is a vital economic development tool. It must be reauthorized to keep the momentum going in low-income communities. If you or your tribal leaders have any trips to Washington, D.C., planned, please let me know. I would love to connect you with Rapoza so you can make the NMTC part of our crucial conversations.
As happy as we are with the NMTC program to date, there is still much work to be done to make it work better for Indian Country. Reach out to your members of Congress to let them know Indian Country needs greater access to this program. Just look at the Travois project map to see all that tribes have accomplished with the NMTC. Just look out your window to see the needs and opportunities that remain. Get in touch with us any time to engage with policy makers about how to extend and improve this great program.
