Introducing our 2016 Travois Superhero Awards winners: Eva Doyle (Part 4 of 5)

This week we will recognize our Haven of the Year recipient, Eva Doyle. Eva is a member of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo in El Paso, Texas. She’s worked in affordable housing since 1982 and is currently a Low Income Housing Tax Credit specialist at the YDSP housing department.

This award was designed for an occupancy, compliance or asset management professional who helps ensure Indian Country housing remains strong for the future. The Haven honoree is a housing authority employee who listens to the needs of the families she serves and puts plans into action. This person keeps the project running long after the groundbreakings and grand openings have been achieved.

Eva is an excellent example of someone who listens to the needs of her tenants and works hard to help families move into new homes. She is very involved in her community and makes sure her tenants have everything they need. She’s the heart of the housing department and has been a stable presence for years, providing guidance and advice on how best to do something. She balances compassion and compliance and works to ensure that all the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed with a smile.

At the awards ceremony, Eva accepted her award and shared a big hug. We reached out to her for a few words.

“Helping my people meet one of man’s most basic needs offers the greatest joy and satisfaction,” Eva said. “It is both gratifying and challenging to see potential tenants move along their journey from applicants to residents. Their dream of owning a home produces a feeling that is beyond words and is matchless!”

Please join me in congratulating Eva Doyle for her hard work creating a haven for tribal families of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo in Texas.
