The Travois development team is known for helping our clients develop safe and affordable housing in Indian County using our knowledge, determination and insight.
As leading consultants in the tax credit industry, most of our work requires us to be in front of our computers and on our telephones – researching data, writing narratives, advocating for state policy improvements, and creating cost scenarios for new projects. These are just a few of the areas within our expertise.
However, on a cold day last December, we closed out of our spreadsheets, put down our pens and picked up brooms and paint brushes instead. We dressed in our best painting attire, packed up in two cars and drove to an older neighborhood in south Kansas City where Habitat for Humanity has been rehabilitating two single-family homes since last year.
Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City is the seventh oldest affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and works to fulfill the dream of home ownership for low- to medium-income families in the greater Kansas City area. Habitat of Kansas City helps provide opportunities and hope for the urban core of Kansas City by empowering citizens and neighborhoods through affordable home ownership and financial education.
After the project manager showed us to our designated area and handed us our supplies, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We first cleaned and then painted the basement with a waterproof coating that transformed a once-dark basement into a bright and comfortable space for the new family.
We are thankful for the opportunity to help a such a wonderful organization that gives back to our great community. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for letting us help to make our city a better place!
