Beginning this fall, Travois will host an art exhibition series featuring North American indigenous artists at our headquarters in the heart of metro Kansas City, as part of the city’s First Friday monthly celebration.
We’re looking for six artists to participate and need your help! Please share this opportunity with Native artists in your community and encourage them to apply for a chance to show their artwork in our juried exhibition.
Find our submission requirements and more details on the Call for Artists here. The Call for Artists is open through Oct. 30, 2017.
For our email and blog subscribers, we will be sharing a coupon that you can share with artists you know, so they save on the $18 entry fee through the caFE system.
The goal of this exhibition series is to highlight the strength and modern-day vitality of American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian artists and to stimulate art purchases and commissions within one of the nation’s leading art scenes.
For full details, visit the Travois First Fridays webpage: https://travois.com/news-events/first-fridays/.
The six artists selected by our jury will each receive an honorarium of $2,500 and will give an artist talk related to their exhibition at the opening reception.
If you haven’t heard of First Fridays before, learn more about the Crossroads Arts District, our neighborhood, here. The Crossroads Arts District hosts one of the country’s strongest First Fridays events and attracts up to 10,000 people from across the heartland.
Please pass along this fun opportunity to artists in your community!
