The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska provides critical education to at-risk infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families through the new Educare Winnebago, a comprehensive early childhood education program that helps children from low-income families close the educational achievement gap.
The center is the first Educare in an American Indian community. Using NMTC financing from Travois and contributions from the Buffett Early Childhood Fund, the tribe was able to begin construction on the $10.5 million facility.
The project is expected to create 59 full time jobs with an annual salary of $33,000 (two times the area living wage), 73 construction jobs and will serve 191 students and families.
