Western Rivers Conservancy, an Oregon nonprofit, has partnered with the Yurok Tribe to purchase 8,500 acres of Northern California forest land. Together, they will further their common interests of watershed preservation, sustainable forestry and sustainable fisheries management. The land is part of the Yurok Tribe’s ancestral land base and ownership will eventually be transferred back to the tribe. Travois New Markets acted as project consultant and helped the project use New Markets Tax Credits to receive investor equity funding.
