Indian Country went “country” for the Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA) conference and chose the perfect spot for the event —the Gaylord Oryland Convention Center in Nashville, TN. I attended the conference with Kellie Burke, one of our finance staff members, to support this great organization, present the topic of NMTCs and connect with new clients.
Day 1
The first day was full of panels and presentations that challenged assumptions, provoked thought and sparked conversations that could lead to future Travois projects.
That evening we visited the Wildhorse Saloon where we listened to some fun local music.
Day 2
It seemed hard to top day one, but day two did not disappoint.
I presented on the topic of New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) in Indian Country. The audience participated by sharing ideas for great potential projects and asked very good questions. If you were at the conference and want a copy of our NMTC presentation please email me at pglynn@travois.com.
We had the unique opportunity to see two golden eagles that had traveled to the conference with the Grey Snow Eagle House. Grey Snow Eagle House is a program of the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma to rescue and rehabilitate injured or displaced eagles. At the conference, NAFOA held a raffle to raise funds for the organization. Travois did not win the raffle but scored with these two great pictures. Thanks NAFOA for a great conference!
