How to maximize IHBG-C grants with tax credits to create more homes for your community

You can significantly increase the impact of your $5 million or $7.5 million IHBG-Competitive grant by using it alongside another leading funding source.

The Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program—the primary tool for creating and preserving affordable housing—has helped many Tribally Designated Housing Entities build more homes for their communities. By combining LIHTC with your IHBG-C funds, you can increase the number of homes built with money that doesn’t need to be repaid.

During the webinar, we’ll discuss integrating IHBG-C and LIHTC and other helpful tips from experts.

The Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program has created or rehabilitated over 6,500 homes in Native communities with more than $1.1 billion in equity funds that do not have to be repaid.

No other program in the country offers a comparable source of funding, and Tribal nations deserve the same access to this resource as other affordable housing developers. Learn how this valuable tool integrates seamlessly with NAHASDA and IHBG-Competitive awards to cover most of an affordable housing development’s cost.

Developing health care facilities and community amenities with New Markets Tax Credits

Native communities can use the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) to support important economic development projects—from Tribal businesses to schools to public infrastructure. The program has provided gap funding for hundreds of millions of dollars in development across Indian Country.

The NMTC program can also be used to finance health care and wellness facilities. In this webinar, we will explain the fundamentals of the NMTC program and discuss how it can specifically support the health needs of your community.

If your Tribal nation received ARPA funds for a health care or wellness facility but still has a funding gap—or if parts of the project were reduced due to budget constraints—this financing tool can help. It can cover those gaps, pay for cost overruns, and support you in completing the project you envisioned.

Speakers:
– Adam Rose, director of partnerships and growth at Travois
– Drew Hammond, senior vice president and business development officer at U.S. Bank
