The Lac Vieux Desert Health Center brings access to state-of-the-art medical care to the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. The health center provides band members and customers from surrounding areas services in family practice, dental, optometry, podiatry, chiropractic, and behavioral health. The center also includes a walk-in clinic, full service retail pharmacy and provides tribal home visits.
The health center provides vital services to the community, a boost to the local economy and created and retained high-quality jobs.
By partnering with Chickasaw Nation Community Development Endeavor (CNCDE), the band used New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) to finance the project. Travois consulted with the band and CNCDE as the team put together a financial structure that attracted U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation as the NMTC investor.
