Crystal Banks-Mann

Calling all resident services specialists, occupancy services specialists, tax credit managers and housing managers!

I’m leading an upcoming three-day NTCCP certificate training with Patsy Cohoe of the National American Indian Housing Council (NAIHC), and we’ll teach you things that will directly apply to your job of renting homes to qualified families! Register here through NAIHC’s website.

The next NAHASDA-Tax Credit Compliance Professional (NTCCP) course, to be held Sept. 21-23 in New Orleans, is the only training in the industry that explains how NAHASDA and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program work together. It is tailored to Indian Country and won’t waste time on details that don’t directly apply. Registration fees start at $700 for employees of tribal housing authorities or TDHEs.

If you’re new to tax credits or need a refresher, or if your housing authority is starting a new project or thinking about one, this is the training for you!

The NTCCP course will help you learn or reinforce your knowledge of:

  • Calculating rent and income limits
  • Creating and managing waiting lists
  • Calculating household income – What’s included? What’s excluded?
  • Ways to verify income
  • Inspections – How to prepare for them? Who visits and how often?

This training will be held at the same venue as the 15th Annual Travois Conference, so you may be able to coordinate travel to New Orleans with colleagues who are attending the Travois Conference. As a bonus, you’ll be invited to Monday’s welcome reception at the W Hotel in the French Quarter and will enjoy the same delicious meals as conference attendees on Tuesday and Wednesday.

An optional exam is offered on the last day, and if you pass and complete a few other requirements, you can earn the NTCCP designation to show your industry expertise.

I am really looking forward to a fun time in New Orleans and hope you’ll join me! Please forward this email to colleagues who may also be interested.
