To prepare for the upcoming 18th Annual Travois Conference, I recently visited Marina del Rey, CA, to find all of the best spots for our attendees. It was beautiful — the host hotel, the weather, the water, the sand, the city — all of it!
Want to learn what there is to do, see and eat in Marina del Rey? Read our Marina del Rey sights and bites list here with our recommendations!
It’s not time to register yet, but you can have fun planning! Mark your calendar: April 9-11, 2018, and we’ll see you in SoCal!
Here are a few highlights:
The Marina del Rey Marriott is our 2018 host hotel. It’s located about six miles from Los Angeles International Airport (20-minute cab ride), three blocks from the world-famous Venice Beach, two miles from Santa Monica shopping and walking distance to more than 30 restaurants.
Walk out of the hotel front door and cross the street, and you can put your toes in the sand on Marina Beach and explore the slips full of boats. You’ll also find beach yoga, sand volleyball courts, paddle board rentals, and many locals taking their dogs on walks (I made friends with four dogs!).
Our sessions will take place in the Bayview Ballroom (pictured below) on the penthouse level of the hotel. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide a beautiful backdrop to tax credit training! Have you even been in a ballroom with windows? It’s definitely what we’ve been missing! Outside of the ballroom, you’ll find a spacious patio with city and coastline views and a nice breeze. We’ll be dining al fresco for breakfast and lunch!
The hotel also has a great new lobby, an outdoor lounge, a pool, a gym, a game room and guest rooms with coastline, mountain and marina views.
My quick trip allowed for dinner, breakfast, and lunch (and coffee on every corner)! I ate melt-in-your-mouth sushi, a healthy breakfast smoothie, and some really delicious tacos. I’m ready to head back and try out more of the local spots!
Registration will open in January. We hope you’ll be joining us!
