Many of you know the story of how my father, David Bland, and my mother, Marianne Roos, started Travois back in 1995. (If you need a refresher, watch the video below of my dad and me from 2015 when we celebrated Travois’ 20th anniversary.)
For a quick look at what they have led Travois to accomplish in 22 years, check out our project map. You’ll see the results of my parents’ compassion, persistence and dedication — nearly 200 housing and economic development projects.
As they reflect on their careers, I know they are most proud that thousands of people have better homes to live in, more stable lives, a better job or better access to services like health care.
This past year, my parents stepped away from the day-to-day work at Travois and have been enjoying more time with their grandchildren and opportunities to travel. They’ve retired, and I aspire to follow their examples everyday as I lead Travois.
As part of our 17th Annual Conference in April in Austin, we will celebrate David and Marianne. They will be attending this conference, their last, and we hope you will join us to say goodbye and wish them well in their retirement.
We’ll recognize them at our welcome reception on Monday, April 3 – we’ve pushed back the start time to 6 p.m. to accommodate more flight arrivals on Monday – and during our lunch on Tuesday, April 4.
Seats at the conference and hotel rooms at the Westin Austin Downtown are going fast — register with us today to secure your spot! (And reserve a hotel room before the discount deadline of Wednesday, March 1!)
I know it will mean a great deal to them to have an opportunity to thank clients, partners and friends for allowing them to work in your community on such meaningful projects. Please join us and celebrate!
Congratulations on the success of all your extraordinary efforts!
