Monday was a big day! We celebrated Indigenous Peoples Day with our annual all-staff meeting and our chili cook-off. There were 17 chili entries this year, and no two were alike.

Travois First Fridays on Oct. 5 will feature Luanne Redeye (Seneca Nation of Indians and Hawk Clan). The event is from 6-8 p.m., and Luanne will give an artist talk at 6:30 p.m.
Luanne’s exhibition, titled “Remedy/Reconcile/Rebuild,” will feature paintings and beadwork frames.

We are pleased to share the news that two team members have been recognized for their hard work and dedication to our clients’ success. Adam Teefey and Alexandria Murnan have been promoted to senior positions in their departments.

Cameron Gilyard is our new Travoisian! Cameron recently joined the Travois Design team as a project manager.

Travois First Fridays on Sept. 7 will feature Joseph Erb (Cherokee), computer animator, film producer, educator, language technologist and artist.

We recently welcomed Vanessa Haswood, a Haskell Indian Nations University student, to Travois as a summer intern. Vanessa is joining us for the second session of our summer internship with Tepa.

Artist, teacher and U.S. Army veteran Gina Herrera (Pueblo of Tesuque) will join us for the next Travois First Fridays event on Friday, Aug. 3, featuring large sculptural works from her “A Fanciful Escapade” exhibition.
The Travois office will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

It was an honor to attend the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) mid-year conference in Kansas City with 800 tribal council chairpersons, legislators and national leaders.
