The Karuk Tribe used New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing to expand and update services offered to tribal members in Yreka and Happy Camp, CA.
The development includes a new 4,800-square-foot Family Services Center and a new 11,400-square-foot Resident Services Center in Happy Camp, and the rehabilitation of a medical and dental clinic in Yreka. The Family Services center houses many tribal programs including cash aid, behavioral and substance abuse counseling, job training and employment assistance, and Indian Child Welfare and social services.
The Resident Services Center provides tribal members with a full-service gymnasium/community center with separate exercise and locker rooms.
The medical and dental clinic has improved traffic flow and parking, a repaired leaking roof and an updated HVAC system.
