Mille Lacs: Passing through Onamia, impressed by economic development successes

The success of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is obvious to anyone who passes through the reservation or the Twin Cities. The band has built a strong foundation in hospitality and related industries.

While driving through the reservation this summer, I was especially impressed by the Grand Market Grocery. Travois follows Indian Country economic development closely and always seeks to share success stories. Home to a pizzeria, a movie theater, a bank branch and grocery store, the Grand Market complex was humming with activity on a recent Friday afternoon.

It is always great to see our friends and colleagues at Mille Lacs and to see tribal economic development initiatives that are making a difference on the ground.
