The wait is over! Registration is open for our 19th Annual Indian Country Affordable Housing & Economic Development Conference! Register today and join us in Miami, Florida, on April 9-11!
There is no registration fee for qualifying attendees: staff members and executive directors, elected leadership, board members or commissioners, and other employees of TDHEs, tribal housing authorities or departments, tribes, tribal colleges and universities, Alaska Native Corporations, villages or tribes, and Native Hawaiian development organizations. We send our thanks to the 2019 Sponsors for helping make this possible!
If you’re a veteran attendee, you’ll notice that our schedule is a bit different this year. We will host our welcome reception on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, and sessions will be held on Wednesday, April 10, and Thursday, April 11.
Read our agenda and a list of session descriptions here. Our team of industry leaders has put together a great lineup of instruction! In our two days together, we will introduce the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) programs, highlight client developments, hear from veteran developers, explore new opportunities with impact investing, explain important asset management and compliance rules, get creative with our design team and plan future possibilities for growth and development in your community. (Your supervisor will approve!)
Not like you’d need convincing, but Miami is going to be fun! We’ll be on the East Coast, and our host hotel, the Kimpton EPIC, is located downtown with views of Biscayne Bay and in walking distance of delicious food, sights and nightlife! We’ve compiled a list of restaurants and hotspots for after-session exploring. Once registered, your confirmation email will include information about how to reserve a room at our host hotel. We have secured discounted pricing for conference attendees at $239/night.
Our schedule is full of instruction, but the annual conference is also our favorite time to see friends, meet new professionals and hear your community goals. We also enjoy laughs, good food and exploring a new city. Check out reviews of our 2018 conference:
- “LITHC has intricate components, but the slides were organized in a way that made the topic understandable.”
- “Being new to the tax credit program, it was extremely informative and put me a little at ease.”
- “Learned a lot about the whole process (outside of just the application approval process) and have a better understanding of how it all works after approval and lease up.”
- “Unless you deal with compliance, you don’t realize how important it is. LIHTC had really opened up the eyes of our whole housing authority, which means overall compliance has improved.”
- “Adam walked our group through two proposed projects: one for new construction and one for rehab. Really helped to understand the process and tracking of capital.”
Seeking superheroes
In Miami, we will honor industry professionals at our Superhero Awards ceremony. For the fifth year in a row, we get to brag about our great housing and economic development partners, show off their developments, and applaud their commitment to their communities – and dang, it feels good! Using the two federal tax credit programs, our clients have created more than $1.4 billion of new and rehabilitated homes, businesses and services and more vibrant communities for American Indians, Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians.
We are accepting nominations until Jan. 11. Nominations can be co-workers, peers from other communities, a family member, someone you look up to, someone you see potential in, or yourself! We want to hear about everyone who is doing great things in Indian Country! Nominate your superheroes here!

How close is this to Orlando!?
Hi Tiger, Google Maps tells me it’s about a 3.5 hour drive. Will you be joining us in Miami?
