Four developments get a boost with Affordable Housing Program (AHP) funds

Red Lake Reservation Housing Authority, Turtle Mountain Housing Authority, Laguna Housing Development & Management Enterprise, and Lac du Flambeau Chippewa Housing Authority received a total of $3 million in Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants for a combined 120 new homes in their tribal communities.

The AHP is a competitive program through the Federal Home Loan Bank system that awards grants and subsidized loans to support affordable rental housing and homeownership opportunities. Housing authorities use the extra subsidy to lower the need for tribal funding in the developments.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines awarded the tribal developments through the 2022 Competitive Affordable Housing Program:

Red Lake Homes #14 – $750,000 (First National Bank Bemidji)
Turtle Mountain Homes #10 – $750,000 (Turtle Mountain State Bank)
Laguna Homes #3 – $750,000 (Glacier Bank)
LDF CHA LIHTC #2 – $750,000 (First National Bank Bemidji)

We are thrilled our clients will get an extra boost for their housing developments and applaud the Federal Home Loan Bank system for recognizing the great need in Indian Country. Read more about the developments awarded funds from FHLB of Des Moines here.

Travois has raised more than $37.2 million in AHP funds through 89 successful applications, assisting 45 American Indian tribes with grant funding for new and rehabilitated homes.
