Supporting housing efforts in Kansas City: Round two for Amethyst Place!

The Travois team spent the month of May shopping, collecting and donating money towards our second food drive for the families of Amethyst Place.

Amethyst Place is a nonprofit organization, located in our hometown of Kansas City, MO, which provides safe housing and supportive services to women and their children who have previously been homeless and have often been through very difficult situations. (Read about our first food drive here.)

The staff at Amethyst Place have put together a remarkable number of supportive services that are essential to the recovery for every member of the family. The Amethyst Place program helps women overcome many challenges; it helps residents get enrolled in GED classes and college courses to improve education and employment outcomes classes, and it helps women receive job training and employment though 100 Jobs for 100 Moms.

When Amethyst Place opened its doors in May 2000, its mission was to secure a safe, nurturing, therapeutic place for women to recover from drug and alcohol addiction while also giving their children a healthy and vibrant community-living experience. Since that time, Amethyst Place has been and continues to be successful with 95 percent of families reunited and stabilized. Seventy percent of the residents remain drug- and alcohol-free during their stay at Amethyst Place.

Amethyst Places gives families basic needs, sober housing, household management and many other services. View the annual report to read more.

Travois is proud to partner with such an amazing and truly life-changing organization!
