Matthew Bland is the asset manager for Travois New Markets and has been with the company for six years. In his position, he manages the loan portfolio of the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) investments.

As an English major at Wake Forest University, I had the privilege of taking a poetry class from the great Maya Angelou during my senior year. Dr. Angelou opened the first class by discussing burdens and barriers.

To remind us of the hard work and dedication put in to each project, by Travois and our clients, here is a look back at 2013.

Some highlights of the year:

Releasing $10,924,547 in developer fees for 25 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects – an average of about $437,000 per project.

Greg Bland, director of environmental services, has officially worked at Travois for four years. We say officially because as David Bland and Marianne Roos’ son, he says he’s been involved for what seems like his whole life.

Mike Price, director of Travois Asset Management, has been with the company for four years.

Marie Allen, project coordinator, joined the development team in November last year. Marie helps clients define Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects based on state requirements and puts together applications for the state allocating agencies.

No question is a stupid question — especially when working on a Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) or New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) project.

Beth Heap recently celebrated her sixth anniversary at Travois as communications director. She enjoys a lot of variety in her position and works on projects that involve writing, editing, photography and graphic design like news articles, blog posts and more.

Eden Rensing is our communications coordinator and recently celebrated her two-year anniversary with Travois.

Every six months Travois is pleased to offer our property’s billboards free of charge to highlight our Kansas City neighborhood nonprofit groups.
