Being the only Cardinals fan in our Royal Blue Kansas City office is fine by me. First off, I love my team. (Since they started interleague play, we have a big lead on the Royals, by the way). Second, being an outsider fits my personality. I don’t just tell people what they want to hear. I tell people what I think.
Your Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) development is a big investment. With that much money and that many families’ futures riding on it, you can’t mince words. Clear communication is key to the success of a project. And I promise I will always be honest with you.
A big part of my job at Travois is staying on top of regulatory and compliance changes throughout the country. If you keep up with me on our blog, you have seen that I take this very seriously. I serve on the Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) Board of Governors. The HCCP Board of Governors is comprised of 22 representatives from the LIHTC industry including members of the National Association of Home Builders, state housing finance agency staff and other LIHTC professionals. This group establishes all policies for HCCP programs.
The one thing in our industry that doesn’t change is the need for honest and clear communication. That skill is something you can’t learn in a classroom. I have learned it over my years working in housing, criminal justice and the business world. I promise you, I have seen and heard it all.
