In our 20 years in business, we’ve been fortunate to work with extremely dedicated and hard working individuals. And even better, when a group of individuals comes together and truly works as a team to meet common goals, they produce incredible results.
Today we are highlighting the tremendous work of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and the Pascua Yaqui Housing Department with our Initiative Superhero Award.
This award represents what we are all striving for in Indian Country affordable housing and economic development.
In just six years, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe has used both Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) and New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs) to build 193 homes, an $8.7 million education center and a $9 million health and wellness center for their approximately 19,000 tribal members in Arizona.
Their amazing initiative has created hundreds of jobs, provided homes for tribal elders and families, provided comprehensive health and social services, and a space for Yaqui language and other cultural and continuing education classes. We were extremely fortunate to have a number of Pascua Yaqui staff members at our awards luncheon accept the award, including Antonio Ochoa Jr., Rosa Valenzuela and Rosie Hickman.
