On a breezy summer morning, I sat across from a figure clad in blue jeans, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. His long, black braids trailed past his waist. He held more than 50 numbered ID tags, each representing a four-legged soul saved.

The Iowa Tribe speaks the Chiwere language and named the Missouri River “Nyisoje,” which means smoky or turbid water.
“It depends what day it is,” says Alan Kelley, vice chairman of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.

I have continued to enjoy the wonderful travel opportunities that come along with my role as a project coordinator.

The Yukon-Koyukuk Elder Assisted Living Facility (YKEALF) successfully completed its New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) seven-year compliance period and has exited the transaction. I recently traveled to Galena, Alaska, to celebrate this accomplishment.

Construction is underway for Blackfeet Homes #6 in Browning, MT. And, wow! I was really blown away by the progress that Blackfeet Housing has made.
Construction started slowly due to a long and severe winter, but they have been rapidly making up time.

A great group celebrated the completion of the first phase of townhomes last month at Lady Luck Estates in Hinckley, MN. Mike Price and I joined the Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures (MLCV) team, along with elected officials of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.

I recently had the opportunity to marvel at some of the scenic beauty of the Northern California coast while spending time with the team of the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation (TDN). Check out some of my photos below.

Tohono O’odham Ki:Ki Association’s (TOKA) third Low Income Tax Credit (LIHTC) development is officially underway in Tucson, AZ. The tribe will build 38 new homes and a community building in the San Xavier District of the Tohono O’odham Nation.

My next adventure on horseback brought me to the coast of the Pacific Ocean on the shores of breathtaking Bodega Bay. Situated about 60 miles north of San Francisco, CA, Bodega Bay was the ancestral home for the Coast Miwok Native Americans.
